Debate Skills for Individuals and the Society

It is said that an argument is meant to reveal the truth, not to create it. However in that case, the argument has to be substantiated – the weight of an argument is not established by a louder voice or a more prominent position, but by logic and evidence. It is arguments like these, that make a good debate.

Estonian Debating Society is an educational non-profit, bringing together debate students, teachers, coaches, trainers and volunteers since 1994. Our mission is to promote a mindset in society where a stronger argument is the determining factor in any discussion and to teach necessary skills.

We believe, that in order to accomplish our mission, we need to teach argumentation and debate skills to as many people as possible and to create social conditions, where good arguments are appreciated and called for.

We do that through our three branches:

  • YOUTH ORGANISATION – we support debate education by establishing debate clubs, providing trainings and competitions for students and teachers and developing courses and study materials at all levels of education.

  • SOCIAL TRAINING COMPANY – we offer debate, public speaking, negotiation and argument construction trainings for businesses, public institutions, NGOs and private individuals, generating income for our other activities. Discover.

  • NOTICE THE ARGUMENT – we organise public debates and discussions in online and offline media and physical locations, work with political parties, think-tanks and umbrella organisations and run public campaigns to improve the level of reasoning in all forms of social dialogue.
